Vote for the Boat! Adventuress Visits Pier 55


The schooner Adventuress will visit Pier 55 for the second time on Tuesday (today), May 11 from 2:30-5:30pm.  People are welcome to stop on by for free tours of this historic vessel.  The Adventuress is a 133 foot Gaff topsail two-masted Schooner that currently named a National Historical Landmark.  Since its inception in 1988, Sound Experience, a nonprofit organization educating youth and adults throughout Puget Sound, has used the Adventuress as a tool in environmental eduation and leadership programs while exploring the ecology and history of Puget Sound.  Today, more than 3,000 young people a year sail aboard, experiencing first-hand Puget Sound’s majesty and vulnerability, and how their daily actions will make a difference in the health of the region’s waterways for generations to come (source:

The schooner Adventuress is currently in the running to win $100,000 courtesy of American Express in the Partners in Preservation grant program.  If awarded the grant, important steps will be taken to help preserve this national historic vessel.
