Seattle and its surrounding waterways provide a beautiful backdrop for events such as proms and graduation parties, not to mention, a rich pool of educational opportunities. Each year, Argosy Cruises helps coordinate and host thousands of students of all ages on a variety of cruises and tours around the Seattle harbor, Puget Sound, and to Blake Island’s Tillicum Village.
Our team can help you coordinate a private cruise as well as all of the details of your trip using our vendors or by working with yours. Our goal is to help you create your dream experience aboard our ships or on Blake Island. Here is an overview of some of our most popular student cruises:
Proms, Dances, and Graduation Parties
Our ship, Royal Argosy, is the most unique prom venue in Seattle. Dances and graduation parties for students of many ages are frequently held aboard all the vessels in our fleet. We can host memorable events at the Tillicum Village long house on Blake Island as well. These proms feature an amazing setting and views that can’t be seen any other way. Best of all, these events can be done without breaking the bank. We have DJs and snacks and desserts and can really work with schools and their student and teacher advisors to make their lives easy with the planning.
Student Travel
Since Seattle is a top destination for student travel, we host many student performance groups such as bands, choirs, and theatre groups from all over the country and the world. In addition to being able to host these groups on cruises of the Seattle area, we are also able to provide them with a place to perform! Often, these classes of students will perform aboard the cruise to Blake Island or on shore in the long house facility at Tillicum Village.
Educational Field Trips
Puget Sound, Tillicum Village, and the Port of Seattle offer many opportunities for student learning. Teachers who create lesson plans about international shipping can use a cruise aboard our fleet to show off the Port of Seattle. In addition to the industrial history, there is a lot of natural beauty, including marine wildlife, to be seen from our boats. To give students a more in-depth view of our oceans, we partner with Pacific Marine Research for the Marine Science Afloat Program. This program takes students on a journey through Puget Sound to learn about the marine life in the area and be able to have hands-on experiences with the marine life.
Finally, we explore the rich culture and history of the area and the traditions of the Coast Salish tribes at Tillicum Village. Teachers all over our region have been raving for years about the learning that happens at Tillicum Village. Despite challenges with budgets the past few years, our school program to Tillicum Village has been growing. This trend is proof of how compelling, vibrant, and in many cases, essential the experience is to teachers.

Themed Events
Let Argosy help you create incredible parties including Casino/Vegas Nights or 70’s Disco Events (complete with mirrored spinning balls), perhaps a Wine Tasting with premier Washington Wines and a sommelier, or the always-popular Gilligan’s Island theme (yes, it’s a three-hour tour….). Our sales staff is here to make your job easier and your event a success.
Entertainment
With nearly 60 years of experience, as you can imagine, we’ve helped to arrange many different types of entertainment for our guests. From DJ’s and Piano Players to live bands of all genres - Caribbean Steel Drum, Beatle’s or Neil Diamond Tribute Bands, wedding dance bands or jazz trios. And, we can help you with other types of entertainment as well. Need a Santa Claus, some dueling piano entertainment or maybe a wandering magician? Just let your Sales Rep know what you are looking for and we’ll be happy to give you some suggestions.
Unique Catering and Beverage Options
Some clients prefer a 7-course seated-served meal paired with flights of wine – others are looking for BBQ on paper plates, at Argosy we can do either. We have set menus for you to choose from or we can create custom menus for your event or theme.
When you rent any of our boats bartenders are included in that fee and are part of the crew. You can host bars, or have your guests pay for their own beverages. Some groups like a special “signature cocktail” or non-alcoholic drink created for their event – or perhaps you’re interested in an ice-carving of a louge – where the drinks get chilled as they flow through the ice, a great crowd pleaser.
Transportation
Many events require coordination getting to and from our Argosy departure locations. We are happy to help arrange motorcoach or limo transportation to and from your event, or even facilitate cabs and cab vouchers.
Florals and Ice Carvings
If your event calls for a special touch, like floral centerpieces or spectacular back-lit ice carvings that act as buffet centerpieces, perhaps with your company logo carved in the ice, we can help you with that too.
Event Photography
As a fun gift to your guests, Argosy can arrange for boarding photos behind a custom life-ring. These can be ready at the end of your cruise, or a CD of them can be sent to you after the event is done. We can also send photographers along to help capture an entire event.
Audio Visual
Cordless microphones, screens, podiums… the answer is yes, of course we can help you with your A/V needs as well.
