Warm whole grain artisan bread served with roasted red pepper spread

Chilled Prawns served in a spicy marinade of peppers

JULY IMPROV MURDER MYSTERY CRUISES

Join Argosy and Events on the Edge Productions for our own modern version of murder mystery theatre. If you like to be a part of the show, then this is for you! Your evening of "who-done-it" intrigue is set in an interactive theater-type atmosphere, full of improvisational comedy and audience interaction.  We will always keep you guessing!  Our professional actors assimilate themselves with all of our guests as they help advance the plotline, and a detective leads the investigation to help you loosely tie clues together and solve the mystery during your cruise.

Our successful interactive mystery formula relies on information submitted from attending patrons who choose to be involved, or who want to set up one of their unsuspecting family members, friends or co-workers, behind their backs of course! Setting them up is a secret, and half of the fun! Please don’t misunderstand, your participation is completely optional, and even those who choose not to participate can still enjoy the show and join in on the fun of helping to solve 'who-done-it!'

(Please be sure to let us know when booking that you'd like to participate, and you will be contacted separately. Generally we need this information 4 days prior to the event and there is limited space for participants).

PEARL DJANGO – Sunday, July 26, 2009

KPLU favorites Pearl Django incorporate the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli with American swing music, and they do it to perfection.  Their music reaches out across the divides of taste to a wide variety of audiences, including guitar enthusiasts, lovers of string music, bluegrass devotees, “world music” fans drawn to French and Gypsy accents, and jazz buffs and aficionados of the new swing music.  Pearl Django were voted favorite area jazz band by Seattle Weekly readers in 2003.  They’ve performed at various venues and jazz festivals throughout the United States and abroad including Django Reinhardt festivals in France and Iceland.  Pearl Django has released nine CD’s to date.  The band’s most recent CD is Modern Times, released in 2007.  Pearl Django is Neil Andersson on guitar, Ryan Hoffman on guitar, Michael Gray on violin, Rick Leppanen on bass, and David Lange, accordion.  Cruise can be booked directly through KPLU at : http://www.kplu.org/2009jazzcruises.html

 

LLOYD JONES STRUGGLE – Sunday, August 9, 2009
Lloyd Jones is a consummate guitarist/singer/songwriter/arranger/performer/ bandleader, and is one of the most original artists on the modern day blues scene.

Jones was born in Seattle into a musical family, which moved to Portland soon afterward.  He got deep into the blues and was the leader of one of Portland's most popular blues bands, Brown Sugar, in the early 70's.  Through the years Jones would continue to hone his craft by performing with the likes of Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, B.B. Join our zany cast of java crazed characters that include tacky lounge duo Max Well House & Mrs. Olsen; actor Juan Valdez; Mr. Coffee's PR rep Melita Cone and reformed coffee addict Jackie Jitters!  As they arrive for the performance, chaos ensues when they find that the rest of the cast, including Miss Barista, the Hills Brothers and Juan’s donkey are missing…but the show must go on! 

Designed as a highly interactive theater show full of audience participation, singing, group dancing & overall wackiness, we get you up & moving…even if you can’t dance worth a hill of (coffee) beans!  We are now missing some of our cast; so we need you to fill the roles and show us your skills! Just give it a shot (make it a double shot!) and 'feel the buzz' of Caffeine!

Join Argosy and 94.1 KMPS for a cruise to Tillicum Village on beautiful Blake Island! Your 4-hour adventure begins with an Argosy cruise to Blake Island while enjoying KMPS's greatest country hits and personality on the boat ride over. Once on the island, you'll make your way up a path strewn with clam shells bleached by the sun. Enjoy an appetizer of clams and nectar before entering the long house for your buffet meal, where you watch whole salmon being cooked on cedar stakes over an alder-wood fire in the traditional Northwest Coast Indian Style. As you finish your meal, the lights dim while the myth and magic come to life in during a native dance show, leading visitors through an enchanting tour of the customs, beliefs and dances of the Northwest Coast Indians.
